Marriage is a blessing

God has given you a great blessing in your spouse and in your marriage. God speaks highly of marriage because it is one of His blessings to mankind.

Focus then on the good in your spouse and marriage, and celebrate. Always celebrate each other! Always!

At the same time, realize that your marriage is bigger than you and your spouse. So, allow your relationship to also be a blessing to other couples (or even singles if you like). You don’t have to be a marriage “expert” to do this. You can help somebody from your unique experiences in marriage.

Finally, always bear in mind:

“Relationships don’t always make sense. Especially from the outside”
― Sarah Dessen

“I have known many happy marriages, but never a compatible one. The whole aim of marriage is to fight through and survive the instant when incompatibility becomes unquestionable. For a man and a woman, as such, are incompatible.”
― G.K. Chesterton

“Marriage is not a noun; it’s a verb. It isn’t something you get. It’s something you do. It’s the way you love your partner every day.”
—  Barbara De Angelis

A great marriage is not when the ‘perfect couple’ come together. It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.
—Dave Meurer

Many marriages would be better if the husband and the wife clearly understood that they are on the same side.
—Zig Ziglar

Happy marriages begin when we marry the ones we love, and they blossom when we love and hold onto the ones we marry.
Tom Mullen

One of the great illusions of our time is that love is self-sustaining. It is not. Love must be fed and nurtured, constantly renewed. That demands ingenuity and consideration, but first and foremost, it demands time.
—David Mace

To get divorced because love has died, is like selling your car because it’s run out of gas.

“When marrying, ask yourself this question: Do you believe that you will be able to converse well with this person into your old age? Everything else in marriage is transitory.”
— Friedrich Nietzsche

Marriage Rut…

“It is rare to find a couple as madly in love with each other as they were when they were dating. Most marriages have fallen into a routine; a boring, lifeless and discouraging routine. If you have kids, then it seems to be even harder to find time to connect with your spouse”

Sex and Marriage

“The best kind of sex in marriage is when a husband is cherishing his wife and the wife is cherishing her husband. Sex affirms each other’s beauty, worth and desirability. Neurologically, the more you have sex with each other, the more you desire each other and the less attractive other women become. This is basic brain chemistry”

MY BELOVED – A poem

  1. Our meeting was unplanned yet divine

For the heavens seemed to have approved

And given their bounteous blessings

Cos so quickly did our soul and spirit lock up

Like in a heavenly holy matrimony

How effortlessly our friendship speedily caught fire

Still beats my human imagination

Each day her joy is fulfilled

When she’s close to me

She’s never willing to let herself go

Without sending smiles so captivating

Smiles that always dig deep into my soul

Like a miner digging for gold deep in the earth’s cradle

And like the serenades of a loved one to her lover

Her day never starts without a check call

And never ends without lovely messages or lullabies

Meant to make my bones retire soundly

And whenever I am unreachable

Her heart sinks deep and tumbles

Enveloping her in great worry

All her gifts are carefully selected

And graced with a touch of love to leave eternal memories

In all she treats me like her most treasured jewel

And indeed I am ‘cos I am her best friend

And her best friend is her soul mate

The simple things she does seems so satisfying

That I cannot help but allow myself be enraptured by her love

And I will do everything for her to share that place in my heart

That she may continually leave her indelible footprints

In my heart’s precious store

She makes my life so colourful

And I pray her love lasts beyond my mother’s

And that we will be together for all times

Cos ours is a love so pure

And the destination sure

Unity of Purpose

Happy marriages do not focus overly on the differences created by background or where the two people are coming from but on where the two are going…as committed couple. If the two people can be united in their vision and work towards it, nothing should be insurmountable. Vision, commitment and a solid sense of purpose is what drives happy marriages.
